Becoming a Man
A sixth grader at IS 8 in Queens described the impact of the "I Am Now" program on him: "I became a better man. ... When I was gonna fight somebody over something, we settled it like young men." Download "Overachievers," written, performed, and recorded by fifteen 6th graders from Queens at the “I Am Now” performing arts club this year. It’s not often that inner city students hear themselves called “Overachievers.” Even less often do they see themselves that way.
